"You cannot create experience. You must undergo it." Albert Camus

This past Friday we had quite the wind and rain storm, which lasted all day, and into part of Saturday. We had our fingers crossed that by repairing the roof, all our leaks were sealed...but no.  Sigh...that'd be too easy, it's not like we want to go camping in a week.

So starting with the one that gave us the worst dripping, we removed it, only to discover it was caused by the one above.  So two windows out, leaving them off for the night, to dry out the trailer frame.  Fortunately the forecast is saying no rain expected for the next few days.  Removed all the old stuff, cleaned it out, and will re-seal the windows.  Replaced the screen as well.  We will continue and do all the windows, it's pretty easy.

We looked at a you tube video as to how to remove the window.  It was actually very simple.  Unscrew all the inside screws, and it will fall outwards.  So you need two people for this job, one on the inside and one outside.  Eventually we will replace the weather stripping...but it is pricey, so we will try this first., and deal with it as needed.

In other areas, I did start on the cushions.  I had thought maybe I could re-use the old cushions.  Save some money here.  Went to rip off the old fabric, and found myself with 2 different bugs...so that will be a no...ugh shivers.  I decided to buy foam., well sad to say this was not budget friendly...and partly why we cannot purchase the weather stripping...something had to go.  I tried looking for some without going to the foam guys...their quotes were way to much.  Wal-mart, and Canadian Tire didn't have high density., so I went to Fabric Land., with my discount, I saved 20%.  I also have some foam here we use for a spare bed...still in great shape...between the two I think I am covered.  Definitely better than the old ones...yikes...some things just cannot be recycled.

Aside from the windows,  and the cushions, ...we don't have much left to do.  We just have to put a few things back into place.  Then I get to add some decorative touches.  Our goal is to be done by August 1st, and pack it for a quick test trip.  We got the estimates for an inspection, we had no idea the cost would be so high.  I realize they test everything, and look at everything and likely quite thorough...one RV place was $525, and the other RV place was $480...sadly this is not in our budget, so we will be passing on the inspection for now. We are not new at owning a trailer, this is our 3rd one.  Pretty confident we can test things out ourselves, we already know that the fridge needs to be repaired or replaced. We've also tented for years, and as nice as it will be to have a working fridge, we can also postpone this for now.

Old screen.

New screen material.

Bottom side of old cushion.  A lot of stains one does not see with fabric over top.

Top side of old cushion.  Pink area is glue, batting removed.

Phoebe doing some quality testing, one cushion finished.

Removal of window.

Old product no longer proving a seal.

From the inside.

All cleaned and ready to re-install.

New butyl tape on, and when tightening the screws you want to see it squish out.  The carefully trim off the excess, and follow with a bead of caulking.  We used proflex for this as well, hard to work with vs silicone, but should last longer.
