"Success is dependent on effort." Sopholces

It feels so good to be finished this project, it was time consuming but for me a lot of fun.  We got all the things done we wanted to, and the things we could not do will require a 3rd party to do them. Next spring we will be back at it, and continue to make small changes, such as replace the awning, and get into the mechanics of everything.

One of the things we did was buy new mattresses for the bottom bunks.  I was unable to find a traditional type to fit the space.  I got a quote of $250 from the foam place, so I started to think of other places, and found a suitable substitute from Ikea.  We picked a Lovas Mattress.  It belongs to a futon chair, so it does have a zipper to separate it into 2 pieces, but it won't affect comfort, and I paid $70.  It fits perfectly.  For the upper bunk, we re-used the original.  I gave them a good steam cleaning and then added a new foam topper to add a bit more comfort.  The orange sheets I picked up from Dollarama for $3 each....they are actually a Wal-Mart brand. That was my favorite find of the week.

The trailer lacks storage for the number of people it sleeps, so I decided to add some shelves to the bathroom.  We now have a place for towels, and the 2nd shelf will hold things like cereal, snacks, chips and other box items.  The kitchen will hold the dishes and canned items.  We added two pull-out drawers.  Also we created an easier way to access the bench storage, by creating a passage door.

We have a small dog, and he sleeps in a kennel at night.  So to give him his own safe place to be in a tight spot, we removed the bottom cupboard doors and shelf and it fit his kennel perfectly.

I also gave the hitch and bumper a fresh coat of paint.  They were looking pretty ugly.  We replaced a few exterior things, the sewer hose, battery, and the bumper needed proper caps. We decided it would be a good idea to have some solar power too.  Also picked up some scissor jacks.  On the list for next year, a new awning and new propane tanks.  I am sure there will be more, but for now we have a vacation to start.

So here are the after pictures.  I hope everyone has enjoyed following the progress, and if we have given you any helpful tips I am glad.

Now to grab my list and finish packing it up.  Happy trails :)

Plenty of room for 3 boys.

My daughter gets the 2 drawers, under her bed.

Bodie has his own spot too.

Repaired the privacy screen.

Second shelf will hold food items.

Upper bunks for the twins, bottom for the teens.

3 hooks on each side for jackets.

UPDATE: June 2016...Trailer is holding up great., we have continued to upgrade some things.  It needed a new water pump.  And we had to replace the tie rods, and at the same time we put in a new sewer valve to the outside.  This month we did replace the awning fabric., this is definitely a 2 person job, and a 3rd is needed to lift and hold while putting it back on the track.  I ordered the fabric online, and after reading and watching some videos, we managed to get it done by ourselves, saving hundreds of dollars.
