Slow and steady wins the race right., good thing cause we are slowly making progress. Here is where we are at, and what has been accomplished. The roof is now completely repaired, butyl tape, sealant, and rv roof paint applied. The insulation, and plastic went in, and new ceiling panel went up. Today we finished the trim around the ceiling, which looks great. All painted, lights back in.
Had some water leak in around the front window, so another job was to remove the front window cover, (big plastic awning)...get in there to remove the sealant and caulking around the window...all new butyl tape, and sealant...so here is hoping our front section will stay completely dry now for years to come.
Started painting the cabinets. Sanded, and primed, then paint. The hinges removed, and will be re-used but given a fresh new look with spray paint. Picked out new hardware for the drawer pulls. Still hoping to find some new latches, if not they will get a face lift too.
Now with painting, we went back and forth on which to pick. I tried to research, and even then got mixed reviews, going into the paint stores, again mixed opinions from the so called experts. So in the end, I decided to use Exterior instead of Interior. Since the trailer is not like a house, I put it in the outside category. Also 6 people inside, we will create a lot of condensation, the steam from cooking and the extreme temperatures we could face...all swayed me to use Exterior. I did consider the added chemicals, but since we are not actually camping for a month, I figured it will have cured and I did pick a good quality brand...and I am hoping that 2014, the paints are getting safer. One can of paint was not enough, it will be 1.5 to 2 full gallons when I am done. The paint was from Dulux, Egert is the creamy white., my new favorite natural. The teal/turquoise color, is called Forest Glen for the cabinets, I bought enough to also paint the bathroom...the colors came from the fabric I am using in the curtains. I used another can of green, in the bedroom area, for the bunk., and drawers.
We are thinking ahead now, to the practical changes we want to make. Where will things go, and what can we do to make the most of the space. And good news, the cast came off my husbands foot this weekend, but still told to take it easy, a couple more weeks to completely heal.
