My twins are 8 yrs old, and nothing rocks their world like gaming. Whether it's Mario and Luigi, or on the computer playing Minecraft they are right in there. So it was a no brainer as to what direction we were going to go with the makeover. This took a long time, as we tend to be lazy and since it's not a top priority it often sat for weeks with no work being done.
Hubby was great at building a cabinet for the tv and game consoles. We found the idea on Pinterest and re-created the Gameboy Color.
Because we have a heat register, we had to add legs to the Ikea bookshelf, and turned it on its side so it could be a bench or a place to play and display their creations. The floor is laminate, but to make it soft and less noisy we replaced the old foam mats with new black ones.
The Lego art wall, was made with the largest Lego plate, glued onto a piece of plywood, framed like a picture and attached to the wall. The kids will be able to create what ever art they would like.
Other characters the boys love I tried to add around the room. This would be Zelda, Pac Man, Minecraft, Angry Birds and Star Wars. Since they also love Angry Birds I decided to pick angry birds as the star wars characters.
Now I still need to add some shelves inside the closet area. I'm still considering adding some Pokemon characters, if I do I will update and add new pictures.
To see the before, you need to look at Playroom Take One...I completed that one just before they turned 3 yrs old.
I hope you have all enjoyed the work we have put into this room. My boys are my toughest critics, and I got a A+ from them, they love it, and that's all that matters to me. :)

I hand painted all of the Mario background, and the Pac Man. I decided to purchase the vinyl stickers of the characters. As well as the Game Controller, Minecraft, the angry birds, and the lettering, these are all stickers. I posted some of the inspiration game backgrounds, and then hand copied to the wall.
Trying to get as many game scenarios into a small space was a bit challenging, and I often had to remind the boys this is just a representation of the game. But there really is so many choices and ways to go if you wanted. To fit the cold air return into the design, it got spray painted green and that's why the pipes are there. As well as the intercom, rather than make it stand out, I took it apart and spray painted and it became apart of the blocks.
Now my inspiration for the Mario Wall came from these:
Now my attempt at painting free hand., with the help of a level, and painters tape.
